About Me & A Brief History
Hi there! My name is Christopher Pinto (but hey! Just call me Chris) and I love film and photography. I reside in Southern California and do freelance work for mostly my friends, family, and a handful of other clients. I've been practicing filmmaking since 2009 and photography since January of 2012. Since then I've been recognized 2 times and been awarded for my professionalism in film. To be honest I was unaware of the filmmaking process until my freshman year in high school (2009) when I took a video production class. I had no idea what the filmmaking process was let alone how it worked. At first I didn't really take much interest in it until after the course was finished for the semester which felt pretty ironic. I first started learning how to edit short movies well enough so that I knew what kind of footage I would need to acquire while out filming something. I took so much interest in the field of editing that I would spend my remaining time during the school weeks to watch tutorials on Youtube about editing believe it or not. Many people thought I was kind of nerdy for doing that but I kept doing my own thing and watched the tutorials, expanded my knowledge and learning the boundaries of filmmaking in general.
Soon enough I had learned so much technical knowledge on editing that I had gained a reputation for being one of the best editors on my high school campus and possibly in my local city or area. Now I know I might be exaggerating a little but thats what everyone would tell me and still tell me to this day. Currently I am proficient in programs such as Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere Pro CC, Adobe After Effects CC, Pro Tools 11, Davinci Resolve 11, and a little bit of Cinema 4D. Although I mentioned Cinema 4D ( a 3D modeling program ) in the list, I don't know a whole lot about it because I don't feel as though its an important program to know since Im not specifically gearing towards being a 3D animator or modeler, but it is a cool program to know of. I also know quite some knowledge of AutoCADD and Revit by Autodesk which are Drafting & Design/Architectural 3D programs (respectively) which might not seem to enhance my abilities as a filmmaker but have helped me gain much more experience working in two and three dimensional spaces which could transfer over to 2-D graphic images and 3-D modeling which is relevant in the cinema world.
Fast forward almost 10 years and now I work full-time in the film industry. I've shot many projects as a cinematographer and worked on many more as a camera assistant or Grip & Electric crew member. Some notable projects I've been a part of have been filming live at the 2017 BET concert, being 1st AC for an upcoming Netflix pilot, and shooting as the cinematographer an award winning short film, Mousarra. I look forward to growing as an individual as well as an artist in this kick ass industry.
